                          PROJECT EXPERIENCE

During the first half of this century, streetcars traveled up and down “Three Street,” shuttling riders between downtown and points along the Bayshore Corridor. As the primary mode of transportation into and out of this area, this streetcar line helped spur development of the Bayshore communities that exist today. Now, decades later, MUNI, the City of San Francisco, and the San Francisco County Transportation Authority have launched the Third Street Light Rail Project to reestablish rail service along this corridor.

As a member of the construction management team, Summit Associates is providing resident engineering, inspection, master scheduling, and administrative support services for this light rail project. The project includes construction of the MUNI Maintenance East new car maintenance and office facility, passenger stations, landscaping of Third Street, utility relocation, ticket vending machines, street reconstruction, bridge structures, tracks and trackway, overhead catenary system (OCS), and system signalization.
